Man, oh man

A few weeks ago, Martin started saying "I'm the man".  At first, I thought this was kind of funny in a "you the man" kind of way.  Then, I realized that he was saying it any time he was trying to show some power, be bossy, or do something physical.  Then I started to worry - is this just the tip of a troubling iceburg?  In spite of all of the women's studies classes I took in college am I raising a son who says "I'm the man" as if to say "I'm in charge"?

I know, I can practically see my mom shaking her head as she reads this as if to say, "oh dearie, this probably means nothing and there's so much more to come."  And, I know she's right on both accounts.  But still, I want to make sure that this IS nothing and not SOMETHING BAD coming down the trail.

I wish I could figure out how this phrase has come into his head.  I'd like to blame other children at daycare, but since he doesn't go there anymore I can't pin it on them.  I'm placing bets on either Scooby Doo or Tom and Jerry.  They are definitely a bad influence, even if they're not the source of this one.  All I know is that I better get out the "Free to Be You & Me" album and play it during the night as he sleeps.  Just in case.

You have to limit the amount of "gangsta rap" he listens to. If the word "the" becomes "da", we'll know it is a problem!
