Memorial Day weekend begins
Yesterday I left work early and came home around 1:30 PM. Our nanny, Kris, had an appointment but it was a terrific excuse to start the long weekend ahead of schedule. I had visions of taking a short but fat nap before the kids woke up, but met Sophie at the door when I walked in from the garage. Normally, she takes two-hour naps every day, but somehow must have known I was on my way and decided to get geared up for my arrival. Sophie and I played for awhile then woke Martin up to start our afternoon.
We loaded up buckets and a bag with gardening tools and gloves and went into the backyard to clean up a few weeds and the patio. It was a little sunny and a little cloudy and perfect for some amateur gardening. We had a terrific afternoon - I actually got some stuff done and the kids alternated between playing in the sandbox and helping me with projects. We drove around for awhile checking out all of the temporary greenhouses so that we could map out our plans for tomorrow.
I stopped to pick up some food on the way home and that's when things started to take a downward slide. Both of the kids screamed all the way home for fries (one of Sophie's new words in her expanding vocabulary, embarrassing I know). By the time we pulled into the driveway, a full mile after we left the drive thru window, they were in full melt down. I thought things would improve once they started eating, but instead of eating, they started a food fight with each other and turned into full blown loonballs. See for yourself.
You'll note that the video stops abruptly. That's because I had to move one child into a timeout and the other into the bathtub.

What fun things I have to look forward to.

Hello! Why do you think fries come in that little sleeve? So you can pass it to the back seat and have quiet time! And then, days later, they can still find little crunchy snacks in the back to munch on while they look at the scenery. Get with it Jennie.
