Birthday review, circa 1978

With my mom out of town, I can't completely verify the year this photo was taken.  It's either 1978 or 1979.  I looked at this picture for quite awhile to see if I could gather any clues.

1) Definitely a birthday - see the balloon hanging from the light fixture?  That wasn't there for just everyday meals.
2) Crackerjacks=party
3) That's me in the middle.  For some people, a hairstyle might help date a photo, but not for me.  I pretty much had the same hairstyle until 4th or 5th grade when I started getting Annie-style perms.
4) If the wallpaper could be carbon-dated, it would say "somewhere in the 70's, anywhere in the Midwest".
5) The outfits don't really tell you much about the date, but my dress does tell you something about a few of my favorite things at the time - Holly Hobbie and Little House on the Prairie.

Based on my absolutely vague memories of birthday parties around this age, I am certainly not going to waste another minute worrying about planning elaborate themed parties for my kids until they're old enough to demand it.

Viva la birthday (19 days to go).

Jennie - last year I made the whole YEAR be about me. If this September Month of Jennie works out, you may want to consider stepping it up a bit. The year of Jenine was largely a success. Plus it just sounds good. The Year of Jennie. It's got a ring to it.

Why don't you know the exact date? Weren't the pictures in the 1979 file or couldn't you read the date as well as the names of all the people which were written on the back of the photo? Huh...what a mystery.
