I had a great birthday.  The celebration officially started over the weekend with dinner at my parents.  One really nice thing about getting older, is that you can still count on your mom to make your birthday special.  Rest assured that as long as she can cook or march herself down to the bakery, you'll always have a birthday cake.

And we wrapped up the birthday with a movie - with both kids.  This was Martin's second time in a movie theater, and Sophie's first.  Knowing that she was probably too small for the movie, we decided to try it anyway.  She did really well, especially for the first half.  She even had some popcorn and despite the "butter flavoring" that comes on all movie popcorn, she doesn't seem too itchy today (here's to hoping that her dairy allergy goes away or at least gets better).  Obviously Martin and I were both kind of excited, look at our matching maniacal grins:
