Grace

The kids have been up since 5:30 this morning which is earlier than they've been getting up, but later than they got up yesterday.  I've gotten pretty used to getting up early over the past four years, but 5:30 is still an early day no matter how you cut it.  Martin requested candy for breakfast and I said no, offering them pop tarts instead...because that's a much better alternative.

On a good note:
- Our shipment of Illy espresso arrived today so we were able to resume our daily dose of caffeine
- I ordered some lip gloss and the new shimmer brick palette this week, so I look all glowy and fresh this morning
- We're going to make a quick run to the grocery store after lunch to pick up a few essential items and movies for the weekend, hopefully a pile of Oscar contenders so that I can feel prepared for one of my favorite events
- It's forecasted to snow 12 inches in the next 48 hours, we plan to put a bowl outside to catch fresh snow then make snow cones out of it

On a bad note:
- I cut my finger on the espresso knock box when I was making my daily dose of caffeine and the only bandaid I could find was one that looks like a lipstick print
- Trying to grab our vitamins this morning, I knocked my head on the open cabinet door so hard I was too shocked to cry
- Both of these injuries happened in about a five minute time span, proving that my dad's nickname for me, "Grace", is still well deserved
- It's forecasted to snow 12 inches in the next 48 hours and Marty will be at work, so we may be snowed in if it's too deep to get out of the driveway

On the table tonight: Falafel with cucumber sauce, hummus and pita

Yum! I'm coming over for dinner.

Hope your head (and finger!) feels better soon.

Our neighbors used to make snow ice cream - milk, sugar and vanilla added to that bowl of fresh white stuff.

    Give it a try...

Well Grace...you must have received that trait from your mother. Yesterday we were hiking in the mountains preparing for our Grand Canyon trek and I tripped and fell. My great walking sticks were trapped under my body and my mouth made contact with a very hard rock. Luckily, my teeth are all intact, but I do have a very swollen lip and a couple of great looking scabs. Everyone seems to think they are cold sores, so I guess that is a good thing! So Gracie...like mother, like daughter!

Oh mamamia, you're so lucky. I'm glad to hear that you only have a fat lip and not a new gaping hole in your smile. Otherwise I'd have to get you a gold tooth for an early mother's day present. I'm going to tell Martin that your injuries were a result of a fist fight. He'll probably like that. Be careful on the rest of your trip, I want the rest of your injury report to be clean.
