It's only laundry
Back-to-back snowstorms followed by a few days of weather in the 40's and 50's have created massive puddles in our yard and driveway. Yesterday when we went out to get the mail, I let the kids play in the puddles. I figured, what difference does it make, it's only laundry.
Here's the happiest boy on earth.
The only problem with letting Martin do this was that it created a serious battle in my head that I like to call "WWJD vs. WWPD" - or - "What Would Jane Do? vs. What Would Pat Do?" The conversation in my head went something like this:
Pat Side of Brain: Tell Martin to lay in the puddle. See if he'll do it.
Jane Side of Brain: No Pat, don't do that.
Pat Side of Brain: I bet you can get him to do it. Tell him just to sit down.
Jane Side of Brain: No, he's happy just jumping, let him keep going.
Pat Side of Brain: Okay. Then tell him that it's a GI bathtub and see if he'll dunk his head.
Jane Side of Brain: It's getting cold out here, why aren't they wearing jackets?
I wish I could say that this is the first time WWJD and WWPD have battled it in my head, but it isn't. Honestly, it's like they're there all the time.

loved it, every part of it.

I also can't wait to hear what Jane and Pat have to say! You are living between the 2 of them, great parents that gave you different ways to look at things, you are SO a combo of them, and what a great thing.

Of course WWJD is most likely the right way to go. That would be the little angel on your shoulder and WWPD would be the little devil. You know I like to have fun, but obviously am not as crazy as your father!

It is good that Jennie at least considers preparing the boy for the tough side of life. It's better to have people you know and love pull tricks on you that having them done by complete strangers.
