Our town
Our town recently had their town festival, and even though it was HOT HOT HOT, we decided to head down to the library square to attend a concert for kids. We arrived STARVING, expecting to find dozens of food stands. Instead, we found one stand that had corn dogs and french fries. We waited in the sweltering line as the single stand apparently made each corn dog to order, loaded up with everything we could carry and went to find a shady spot in the park for a picnic.

The length of our musical listening experience coincided with how long it took the kids to eat their corn dogs. Then, they abandoned their corn dog sticks and joined in a pine cone fight with the other non-listening kids in the crowd.

Once the band wrapped up, the park cleared out and we headed to the blocked-off street where an inflatable playland had risen.

Sophie was a bit small to climb up and down the ladders and slides, but made friends with older girls who pushed her up and over the top of each ridge.

Hot, sweaty, tired and still hungry, I had to practically drag the kids back to the car, only making it there with the promise of air conditioning.
