Age three, day one

We had a great day today celebrating Sophie's birthday and Valentine's Day.  As is tradition at our house, we started out the morning with rootbeer floats.

After Sophie and I dropped Martin off at preschool, we went to the coffee shop to have hot chocolate (Sophie) and coffee (me), hanging out at a table and chatting like ladies of leisure.

Yesterdays snowy weather made a perfect test run for Sophie's new pink wellies.  She planned her outfits for the day around the boots, changing clothes three times for all of our different events.

Martin said that he wanted to take Sophie out for lunch for her birthday, picking the exotic and never before visited Hutch Cafe as our destination.

Sophie loved it, switching places in the booth several times to sit next to each of us during lunch.

Martin took about twenty shots of the cafe - mostly of the booth and the counter stools and the Valentine decorations - but capturing one of us in between his arty shots.

Rounding out our day of food, the kids went to a Valentine party in the afternoon, then back home for dinner.  We ate no less than five times today, which makes it pretty much the perfect way to spend a birthday.
