Overheard @ The Nelson's, v.23

Part One
Me: Sophie, I don't want to see you jump on my bed.
Sophie: Then you shouldn't look at me.

Part Two
Me: Sophie, tonight we're going to watch the Presidential debate on TV.
Sophie: Well, I'm going to go in my room.  I don't like that show.
Me: Why?
Sophie: It's too scary.
Me: I hear you.

Were you able to keep a straight face when she told you not to look at her? Those comments always made me laugh when Shannon was little and then I lost any "power" I should have had!
Yes, the debates are scary, hopefully we are old enough to watch them!

No, I wasn't able to keep a straight face. I started laughing and told her I thought that was a good one. Absolute lack of power, indeed.

I think you're OK as long as you didn't give her a high-five along with that. And it was funny.

At the beginning of the debate Andra (who isn't afraid of anything, including presidential debates) asked "Why aren't they talking to each other?" About 3 minutes later, Jim Lehrer? "Why aren't you talking to each other?"

She has a future in debate mediation?

At our house, Martin asked "okay momma, who are we for?" and I told him that during the debates, it was our job just to listen. He looked at me and winked, understanding my secret code.
