Big night out, or Yes, I went to Britney

Last Friday night was really big - I went out (big!), to a party in Minneapolis (huge!), to the Britney concert (unbelievable!) and stayed out way, way, way past my bedtime (so big I felt it for days!).

After deliberating for weeks about what to wear to the concert that was: a) in my closet; b) fun and sassy enough to go to a concert; c) could not be featured in a historical overview of Chico's collections; d) not my normal uniform = long-sleeved cotton T.  I had gone over it with Steph (our hostess), emailed my friend Meghan countless times (my date as Marty said hell no declined to go to the concert), and in the end, found something that made me feel like I was going somewhere other than running errands.

Meggie and I were thrilled to be out and to be together.  To prove it, we took loads of pictures that looked much like this:

Our new cab friends took that picture on the right.  "Are you sisters?" she asked.  "We should be" we both answered.  Its been a long time since Meggie and I were out and about and we both kept making comments about how great it is to be around adults and enjoying a more-mature flashback to our early-twenties.  There were plenty of differences though - like how I kept an eye on the girl in the suite next to us who insisted on leaning over the railing just in case I had to make a grab for her ankles so she wouldn't go over the side instead of BEING that girl, and I'm pretty sure we were the only ones discussing breastfeeding during set changes.  And as it turns out, older and more mature still means good fun, and it has the added bonus of feeling pretty darn good the next day.

We started out the night at Steph's new place downtown.  It's lovely - and about the only thing it had in common with where I lived when I was her age was that at a party, everyone still gathered in the kitchen.

From the party we headed for the show in a caravan of cabs.  We joined two fun looking girls and about one minute into our cab ride, one of them says "What's the deal with that Twitter anyway?" which in some groups may be a conversation starter, but we just happened to have one of the city's biggest experts on social media sitting right there in the front seat.  Here's what that ice breaker looks like:

The concert itself was fantastic.  Say what you will about Britney, but that girl can put on quite a show.  She went through probably ten outfits, and danced through the entire show.  It was action-packed, visually enjoyable, and so much fun.

And although I took pictures all night, I didn't get any great shots of our hosts together.  To Steph and Chad - thank you so much for the invite and for planning such a fun event.  I don't usually speak for Meghan, but I can say with some certainty that we'd follow you anywhere.

But did you see Xavier? He also struggled to come up with the right outfit for Britney and ended up in the lime green skinny jeans. Is that what you came up with too?

HOW FUN! I'm green. And you guys DO look like sisters and, with those huge smiles, you look like you look so young.
